Brand basics

Temelio is an end-to-end grants management software solution designed for grantmakers such as family foundations, universities, and private foundations. The cloud-based system provides an intuitive interface for proposal reviews, data reporting, and embedded communications to streamline grantmaking operations. By prioritizing a frictionless grantor experience and trust-based philanthropy, Temelio saves users hours of administrative work each week while empowering changemakers with tools to increase their impact.

CRM & relationship history

The platform maintains a complete database of all applicant and grantee records. This feature allows grantmakers to view historical relationships, including past interactions and awarded amounts for each grantee. Every profile centralizes documents, notes, grant summaries, and other important records. Plus, the universal search feature lets grantmakers instantly find specific organizations, files, and comments.‍

Customizable dashboard

Grantmakers can gain a high-level view of their operations and impact through a customizable dashboard, featuring:
  • Real-time application pipelines that show exactly where proposals sit in the review and approval workflow
  • Actionable internal tasks, such as pending application reviews and nomination approvals, to keep the grantor’s team on track
  • Grantee tasks like upcoming reporting deadlines and pending requirements to ensure a frictionless experience
  • Budget utilization tracking and live progress toward grantmaking goals
  • Scheduled disbursements and upcoming payments for improved financial oversight

Frictionless grantee portal

Temelio offers an intuitive, easy-to-use interface designed to capture key information and provide a positive application experience that respects grantees’ time. Its trust-based design creates frictionless workflows and increases visibility of current grant opportunities.

Integrated communications

Temelio eliminates the need for external email chains with embedded communication tools. Grantmakers can add internal notes for team members, collaborate with grantees alongside their applications, and email applicants in bulk as needed.

Data & reporting

Temelio’s reporting capabilities allow grantmakers to move beyond basic tracking to visualize their grants’ full impact. Users can leverage pre-built reports or pull any data point within Temelio to create custom reports tailored to their needs. Key reporting components include:
  • Dynamic dashboards: Real-time visualizations of multi-year giving and budget utilization
  • Custom reports: The ability to create reports based on program areas, regions, and specific mission categories
  • Grantee mapping: A visual tool to track funding distribution geographically

Automated compliance

Temelio integrates with Candid to streamline the research and vetting process. This feature helps in two key ways:
  • Charity Check allows grantmakers to instantly verify if an organization is in good standing with the IRS.
  • Applicants can pull their existing financial and program data directly from Candid to simplify their applications.

Company history

Temelio was born from a shared realization by co-founders Maya Kuppermann and Ruthwick Pathireddy that the philanthropic sector was being underserved by modern technology. Maya, who founded her first nonprofit as a teenager, saw firsthand how grantmakers remained tethered to inefficient legacy systems and manual spreadsheets while the for-profit world enjoyed cutting-edge tools. Similarly, Ruthwick’s experience as a nonprofit volunteer and board chair highlighted the critical need for affordable, purpose-built software to drive real-world impact.

In 2022, the two joined forces to launch Temelio—an all-in-one grants management platform shaped to address the sector’s evolving needs.

Today, Temelio has evolved from a visionary concept into a trusted mission control center for foundations nationwide, constantly being refined by industry experts. The platform now facilitates over $1 billion in annual grants for prestigious partners like the Peloton Foundation, Kapor Foundation, and Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation. The NYC-based team remains dedicated to eliminating administrative friction so changemakers can focus on their world-changing missions rather than tedious paperwork.
